| Well the Masque didn't open yet as you probably know. The explanation is that an entire change of plans took place. The old building code was not accepted by the city at the last minute. A new architect was hired and he drew up new plans, the original plan being rejected. A plan was finally accepted by the city and contractors are presently biding for the job. Brendan will accept the lowest bid that will start the job in early January. The cost of this whole thing will probably run into the $100,000 range so you can expect some changes. The major change will be the removal of the room (the one with the glass window) and of course the famous fire exit which will be very weird, a tunnel from the west room to the alley just west of the present exit. The new entrance will be at that iron grating on Cherokee, next to the elevator. This will make the Masque into a legitimate club that will compete with the Whisky and Starwood for the right bands. |

| The capacity will be greater than the Whisky; the Masque will hold about 450. And there will be a new stage, risers to stand on, chairs for movies and perhaps a kitchen so Brendan can get a liquor license and still have kids under 21 come to shows. The other option is a room for over 21 only with a bar so liquor can be served. In the meantime, Brendan has found another place. It's an old psychedelic club turned black Disco and now abandoned. The place is on the corner of Santa Monica and Vine and if all goes well, could be more permanent than you think, possibly even the Masque East. The first shows here will be three big days at Christmas. Almost every available band will play with the usual unusual mixtures of friends eg: Nickey Beat and heavy friends. So make it down there and if you read this after Christmas go to the next show. The Masque is far from dead. | |

Gerber's Gossip Column: "Dear Flip Fags"
Well I just got the
news that Paul of the Screamers girlfriend used to have three tits, but
she got one removed. Shit, I'm glad I never tried to catch a peak of
her tits. And speaking of tits, Joan Jett's were wiggling at a recent
party for Jerryettes Helen & Trudie who have just returned from
their travels in NY and the UK, the Screamers came back also. But Geza
stayed in search of his stolen guitar.
The Denny brothers are
goin for a white X-Mas in Kansas city and Belinda is go-going to London
with Pat Delaney (and on the same day I will finally turn 18.) Posh Boy
has already gone to make Rik-L-Rik a star. And the Ramones are in sunny
Hollywood, Calif. making a X-Mas movie?!?!
The Canterbury is now
HIGHLY DANGEROUS & punk tenants were all finally evacuated during
recent fires which were deliberately set by management. Not only that,
the new management carries a gun which he pulled on Margo. All in fun,
they were both a little drunk. New rules include: No loud music, no
music after 10:00pm, no animals or punks in the elevators, anyone seen
on the roof will be shot on sight, no visitors, 15 minute limit on
showers, no fun.
Hal Negro and two of
his Satintones along with Dix Denney and myself were all arrested at
Club 88 in West L.A. Everyone was released except Hal who received two
years probation for possession of P.C.P!!! Stay dusted Hal! Hal and the
band also played a very successful adult party, where they were each
guaranteed $20.00 each, but I think they made more. (Black Randy's new
girlfriend is also said to be on dust).

quitting the Weirdos? Shannon did you really bring your mom to the
Weirdos? Vanilla Cupcake are you really pregnant??? Darby Crash did you
really make out with Joan Jett???? Rodney are you really a lez???

Black Randy's boy/girl friend lent him this place. It is one big black room with motion pictures of Godzilla or something destroying London and shit. Middle Class were too soft tonight. Oh yeah zits are in now (go to the Masque and you'll see what I mean) so now you guys don't have to worry. When Black Randy came on, he gave all his friends one big hard on. His load of genitals hanged out of a hole in his pants and when Black and Proud came on, he got this hard on that got everybody disgusted and run to the lobby, only this time fans stuck around for the rest of the set. The Bags were in black and alright. Blah, blah. What more can you say? All I can say is you guys in Louisiana missed it so there! |
